DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
By Deirdre Toner
Engaging with Nature
Like the headwaters of a river, the water feature echoes the cascading rivulets of a stream emerging from a natural stone wall backdrop falling peacefully into the pool below; offering opportunities for quiet meditation and contemplative thought to all visitors
Social and Spiritual Well Being
Garden essentials such as aromatic plantings, towering shade trees and textural conifers proffer elements of the microcosm of nature in which static and dynamic personal processes can be balanced. Movable furniture and wall seating provide options for personal and family gatherings
An instrument for the healing of mind, body and spirit
Sensory
An upper bank of wildflowers offers a backdrop for positive encounters attracting wildlife and providing opportunities for children to interact with butterflies and colorful seasonal flowers. Shade plantings will endow texture in a lush yet relaxed atmosphere
Restive Privacy
Rounded cathedral design built into the earth wraps a blanket of natural stone around visitors offering a subconscious harmony of peace and well-being. The Pergola will provide a choice of sun or shade with a sense of mystery and discovery inside this garden.
